Body Gospel Workout Day 23: Strength & Spirit

Body Gospel Workout Day 23: Strength & Spirit from lanaholt on Vimeo.

Today’s Body Gospel workout was Strength & Spirit. I took it kinda easy today, I have not been feeling 100% this week.

The Devotional Verse was John 14:13-14 “And whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” This is an interesting verse because I see it in two ways. Part of it is a trust or faith issue with us. Do we really believe that God is there for us? God does not lie. But, he may answer our prayers in another way. So, we need to be sensitive to that. Does God want us to be fit and healthy? Will he support us in our efforts? Yes! When you face temptation he will give you the strength to resist. When you don’t want to go on, he will give you the determination to go on. He is our strenght. If we ask him for help, he will give it. Just ask, believe, and trust.

The devotional prayer for today was: “Dear Lord, I ask, in your name, that you will help me maintain the momentum I’ve gained so far in the Body Gospel journey. Thanks for your promise that you’ll answer my prayer.”

Body Gospel Workout Day 22: Gospel Glory

Posted in Bible Study, Christian Workout, Daily Devotional, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Healthy Living, My Fitness Journey, Workout, Workout at Home at 4:36 PM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Workout Day 22: Gospel Glory from lanaholt on Vimeo.

I went to a church retreat with the ladies of the church so I did not document a few days of my Body Gospel workouts. We did do Body Gospel Live while I was at the beach with them. Yup, we skipped the beach and did a Body Gospel workout. That has got to count for something. Today’s workout was Gospel Glory.

Today’s verse was Galations 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control: against such there is not law.” A couple key words stuck out to me: joy, peace, patience, faithfullness, and self control. I have found in my experience that alot of folks find it easly to add a little workout to their lives, but changing their eating habits is another story. That involves self control. I completely understand. But, with a little self control, we feel joy at our accomplisment. It also produces peace as we are less stressed about reaching our goals. If we are faithful and patient, we will reach our goals and feel such joy. God wants us to feel joy! Be patient, be faithful, we are almost there and we can do it. Need help, contact me. That is what I’m here for.

Today’s devotional prayer was: “Holy Spirit, thank you that with you in my life, I can produce wonderful fruit, like self-control. Help me be disciplined on my path. Help me to enjoy the beauty of fresh, delicious fruit.

Body Gospel Workout Day 17 & 18: Stretching in the Spirit and Gospel Glory

Posted in Bible Study, Christian Workout, Daily Devotional, Dance, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Healthy Habits, Healthy Living, My Fitness Journey, Workout, Workout at Home at 3:45 PM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 17 & 18: Stretching in the Spirit & Gospel Glory from lanaholt on Vimeo.

I skipped yesterday since I was practicing a lot of Zumba choreo, probably shouldn’t have since it was Stretch in the Spirit. I could have handled that. So, doubling up today. Today is a good combo for Gospel, Stretch in the Spirit and Gospel Glory. We have a fun workout and stretching.

I will be covering both devotionals today too.

Our first Bible verse is Psalm 37:23-24 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” We fall. Don’t we? We try things, fail and then we have a choice, try again or quit. We have that same choice here. Whether we have totally disregarded our good eating habits or have skipped workouts, we have a choice. Quit Body Gospel or pick it up and try again. Well, the Lord reaches out his hand to us and says we can do it. So, we keep trying because we know we can count on God!

The next verse is Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Donna talks about how the hardest part of our fitness journey is our eating habits in the devotional for this verse. I totally agree. Many of us find it so much easier to workout and completely disregard our eating habits. God does not want us to fixate and stress about what we eat, but, everything we do is to honor God. So, that includes eating. If we think of it as a spiritual act, it might be easier for us to focus, seeking God in our choices.

Body Gospel Day 15: Gospel Glory

Posted in Bible Study, Christian Workout, Daily Devotional, Exercise, Fitness, Healthy Habits, Healthy Living, My Fitness Journey, Workout, Workout at Home at 8:47 PM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 15: Gospel Glory from lanaholt on Vimeo.

Today’s Body Gospel workout was Gospel Glory. Today was one of the longer workouts, about 45 minutes. It felt like I was taking a Zumba class, very fun.

Today’s Bible verse was Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust.” He is my strength when I am weak. Yes, he is. I need to keep reminding myself of that because I am weak. I’m just like everybody else. We all have our weaknesses. Yours might be skipping a workout or eating chips. Mine is sugary treats. I just want to gobble them up. But, I need to trust in my strength that God has given me to resist overindulgence. He has given me the strength already. Amen!

The devotional prayer today was: “God, I praise you for the fact that your strength can be my strength. Remind me of that truth today, and every day to come.” Remember, when we ask, we receive but not always that way we expect. If we ask for strength, God may allow us to be tested so we can rely on His strength. But that is OK because we know we can trust in it. Amen!

Body Gospel Day 13: Power and Praise

Posted in Christian Workout, Daily Devotional, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Healthy Habits, Healthy Living, My Fitness Journey, Workout, Workout at Home at 1:39 PM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 13: Power & Praise from lanaholt on Vimeo.

Today’s Body Gospel workout was Power & Praise. It is a challenging workout but doable no matter what level you are. I teach aerobics and felt like I needed to do lower intensity cardio today. So, I did the cardio at level one but worked harder in the strength sections. Got a good sweat on, burned some calories and started the day right!

Today’s Bible verse was Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.” The first thing that popped into my mind was before ordained. He has already ordained the good works we should be doing. We have been created with a purpose! How can we fulfill this purpose if we are not healthy. What is God’s purpose for you, write a novel, run marathon for charity, go on a missions trip? Can we do any of these things without good health? No. So, we have a calling to be fit and healthy so we can fulfill our purpose. Unsure what your purpose is? Spend more time with God in prayer and ask him.

The devotional prayer today was: “God, I am honored to be your masterpiece, beautiful and blameless in your sigh. As I continue to work through the Body Gospel program, I promise to keep that in mind, even when I have doubts.” Yes! No doubts! We have no doubts with God on our side.

Body Gospel Day 12: Stretching in the Spirit

Posted in Christian Workout, Daily Devotional, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Healthy Habits, Healthy Living, My Fitness Journey, Workout, Workout at Home at 1:35 PM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 12: Stretching in the Spirit from lanaholt on Vimeo.

Today’s Body Gospel workout was Stretching in the Spirit. I definitely needed it today. I’m feeling tight from all the cardio I do and it’s so important to be balanced. I find that the one thing that is missing from most people’s workout routines is balance and stretching. Our bodies need it. Take the time to refresh and stretch. It helps your muscles heal and relax so you can hit your workouts harder later.

Today’s Bible verse was Colossians 3:23 “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men.” The first thing that popped into my mind was who do I get fit for? All my life I was pretty much motivated by the people around me. I would lose weight for a boyfriend, an event, or the profession I was in. I never thought, hey! This is God’s temple. I should be getting healthy for Him! This changes your perspective. If your are doing it for Him, it should be easier. Will He ever disapprove of you? Will He ever judge you? Will he say your thighs are too fat, your butt is too big, your abs are not flat enough? No! He loves you and wants you to live a healthy and happy life. So, we do it for Him. And He gives us the strength to do it happily and heartily!

The devotional prayer today was: “Lord, I dedicate my Body Gospel journey to you. Thank you for giving me this body for which to strengthen. I offer it as a gift of thanks to you.” Amen!

Body Gospel Day 11: Body Gospel Live!

Posted in Bible Study, Christian Workout, Daily Devotional, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Healthy Habits, Healthy Living, My Fitness Journey, Workout, Workout at Home at 11:27 AM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 11: Body Gospel Live! from lanaholt on Vimeo.

Today’s Body Gospel workout was Body Gospel Live. All I can say is WOW!!!! I was blown away at how much energy and excitement was in the workout. There was an entire gospel choir! It was so much fun and energizing! I love it!

Today’s Bible verse was Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

The part of the devotional that stood out to me was “Our God lifts us up and gives us strength. If you feel fain this week, allow the Lord to renew you by placing all your hopes in Him. Let His strong arms carry you through.” It spoke so much to what I was thinking. We don’t need anything else. He will help us reach our goals. Put all your hope in Him.

Today’s prayer was “Lord, you are good and your mercy endures forever. I worship you for who you are- a God who lifts me up when I am weary, who makes me soar on wings like eagles. Thank you.”

Body Gospel Day 10: Core Revelation and Stretch in the Spirit

Posted in Bible Study, Christian Workout, Daily Devotional, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Healthy Habits, Healthy Living, Workout, Workout at Home at 2:08 PM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 8: Body Revival from lanaholt on Vimeo.

Today’s Body Gospel workout was Core Revelation and Stretch in the Spirit. We are amping it up now. I thought I was strong, but I’m finding the workouts challenging, especially with the Body Gospel resistance bands. They make everything alot harder. I really felt the workout working my core and strengthening my legs and arms.

Today’s scripture was 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice ever more. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

What stuck out to me was in everything give thanks. We are going to be stretched and pushed on this fitness journey. It’s hard to resist that brownie, get up early to workout and keep going. But we are going to reap the benefits with a healthy strong body. So give thanks that we are doing this now before it’s too late. So, not only do we pray without ceasing asking God for strength, but we thank Him over and over again for our health.

Body Gospel Day 9: Power & Praise

Posted in Christian Workout, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Healthy Habits, Healthy Living, Workout, Workout at Home at 10:30 AM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 9: Power & Praise from lanaholt on Vimeo.

http://facebook.com/coachlana Today’s Body Gospel workout was Power & Praise.  All I can say is whoa! It’s a big change from week one. We used the Body Gospel bands through the entire workout and it’s hard. It’s a great total body workout. It combines upper and lower body strength moves with cardio drills and of course gospel music. Awesome!

Today’s scripture was Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Devotional reading: “Dear Lord, I delight myself in You. Your love for me, and Your desire for me to be healthy, is inspiring to me. Yes, the desire of my heart is to become fit, but it is also my desire to love You above any other, with all my soul, mind, and strength.”

Everything is easier if your focus is on God. Things look different, priorities are different. It’s easier to be committed to a healthy lifestyle if we understand that that is what God wants for us. To be healthy and happy. He does not want us to suffer with diseases and pain. So, let’s focus on God and the healthy life He wants us to have.

Body Gospel Day 8: Body Revival

Posted in Christian Workout, Exercise, Fitness, Health, Workout at 1:59 PM by lanaholt

Body Gospel Day 8: Body Revival from lanaholt on Vimeo.

Today’s Body Gospel workout was Body Revival. Since this is the 3rd time I’ve done this workout, I have a tip. Most of the march movement and V-steps are done on the Right lead. I think you might like it if you mix it out and alternate legs. So do it the first round on the right lead, then when you get back to the top again, do it on the left.

Today’s scripture was Romans 12:1-2. “1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

The devotional: God, thank You for reminding me that Your will stands much higher than anything else in this world. I pray that You guide me as I seek to renew my understanding of my body, my health, and the patterns I set for myself. Thank You that, through You, I have the power to rise above the yo-yoing.

A couple things stood out to me. Do not conform. Just because everyone else is living an unhealthy life, that does not mean you have to. We have a higher power giving us the strength to change whatever we need to. He will help us change our unhealthy patterns. We just need to put our trust in Him and seek His guidance. When things get tough, don’t go to the Oreos, go to God.
